As Mesa truck accident lawyers, we see many crash involving commercial truck drivers. Many times, it may be that the truck is oversized or that the truck driver is communicating with other people via the radio or cell phone. Commercial truck drivers are professional drivers who have acquired relevant certifications to be able to drive a large truck. However, talking on the phone, or having inadequate training, or even being tired when driving are all things that combine to cause accidents. Of course, there are many drivers who understand the importance of driving safe.

Arizona Truck Accident Statistics

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there were 67 incidents of Arizona fatal crashes involving large trucks in 2009. Meanwhile, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has revealed that in 2010, more than 11,000 large trucks were involved in Arizona accidents.

Hands-Free Headset Required Under the New Federal Law

Under the existing Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) guidelines, a commercial driver caught starting, answering, or ending a phone call using a handset will be fined up to $2,700. Commercial Truck Drivers’ Reactions to the New Law

According to reports by ABC15, there are diverse reactions from truck drivers after hearing about the new federal law.
